The Project: AK-47 Advocate Alliance is a growing community of influencers who have chosen to protest & engage the issue of child soldiering and exploitation through human trafficking. Many of them are musicians, artists or athletes. Others are business executives or simply people of influence in their own spheres. All of them, however, share the same heartbeat and concern for children who have a story but no voice. Today, the alliance added three amazing voices to share the children's story - The Lowry Sisters, and we are thrilled to have them in the community!
Before these ladies begin to share the stories of child soldiers and victims of human trafficking at their concerts, Project: AK-47 plans to share the girls' story with you. Over the next few weeks, we will reveal more and more of the story behind the Lowry sisters, but today, we just wanted to introduce you to their music.
The Lowry Sisters are an up-and-coming band based out of Nashville, Tennessee with a Psychedelic Americana style strongly rooted in the traditions of folk rock music. Their self-composed songs are lively, commanding, and insightful, and reflect major musical influences of the likes of Fleetwood Mac and Joni Mitchell. The Lowry Sisters have performed in concert halls, live music venues, showcases, fairs, and festivals across the United States, as well as travelled on a USO Tour to play for thousands of American troops in Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Honduras.Their first CD received an enthusiastic public response, with thousands of copies sold and several songs featured in made-for-television movies, including “Back to You and Me,” starring Lisa Hartman Black, “Thicker Than Water,” starring Melissa Gilbert, and “Murder Without Conviction,” starring Patty Duke. The Lowry Sisters aim to produce music that provides their listeners and fans with the same thoughtful, spirited credence to life that fuels their passion, dedication, and individuality. They recently released their second album, and Project: AK-47 is honored and privileged to partner with them to change more lives through the rescue and restoration of child soldiers and victims of human trafficking. Please welcome them to the Advocate Alliance with a hearty reply under this article, and take a listen to their great, thought-provoking, soul stirring music on MySpace: http://us.myspace.com/thelowrysisters or Reverb Nation: http://www.reverbnation.com/thelowrysisters
