They can shoot, mutilate, kill, manoeuvre, overwhelm a position — on the actual battlefield, they are doing everything adults can do, and sometimes with even more verve than an adult might. They can be influenced so strongly, and their ability to retain values and ethics and rules is much more limited than adults’ ability, so they’re in one sense more flexible.

In the wake of Typhoon Haiyan (Hurricane Yolanda) many towns are desperately low on food and supplies and have inadequate shelter. Much of this has been caused by a slow reaction from the Philippine government and supplies getting delayed in warehouses. 

There is little cooperation between NGO's, government entities, and independent people coming to assist. Because of this, it is easy for multiple relief organizations to end up working on top of each other and miss other locations completely. We are working hard to ensure that we are addressing the areas of greatest need and that our presence is a benefit to other relief groups.

With your help, our teams have been on the ground in the Philippines since Typhoon Haiyan (Hurricane Yolanda) made landfall over a week ago. In preparation to do this well, we spent time learning from the locals and meeting with other leaders in the area to develop the best relief plan possible.
