Love > Apathy.

If you've ever noticed the headlines on any given day, you'll find that the Kardashians, Katy Perry and Tiger Woods get more press than real, concerning or life-altering problems. Is it that the media defines what "we" want, or are we really more interested in being entertained than informed?
I'm not sure we know how to put it into words or not, but every single one of us is consumed with being important. Does being important need to be translated as being "loved?" If we're important, then surely we are loved, right? The truth is that everyone is important because they are loved. Everyone deserves the opportunity to hear and to know that they are known and they are loved.
Yet, one doesn't have to look far to see that this world is cold, hard and abrasive. It can also be unfair, unkind and unforgiving. That's where LOVE comes in and changes everything.
Martin Luther King, Jr. once said that "Justice at its best is love correcting anything that stands against love."
And then there's apathy. No one wants to be known for being apathetic. I've often wondered if we subconsciously think that we are on the sidelines or just in an audience observing a motion picture of life. We're not. We're actually playing in the game. We're actually in the script and film.
Let's look at the definition of apathy and then ponder...
Apathy:
-the absence or suppression of passion, emotion, or excitement
-the lack of interest in or concern for things that others find moving or exciting
Love is most certainly greater than apathy. Let's open up our eyes and be the difference we want to see in the world. Let us be known by what we DO that we are a generation with a voice that will not sit by silently when there are people on this planet that have no voice.
